Clinical leadership matters

Clinical leadership is critically important to improving the effectiveness of health care outcomes

Role of our Clinical Councils

The role of the Clinical Councils is to provide the Board of Hunter New England Central Coast PHN with locally relevant perspectives on clinical issues that impact on the unique needs of our local communities.

There are three Clinical Councils in the HNECC region based in Erina, Tamworth and Newcastle.

Clinical Councils are GP-led and include members from other primary health care professions who will assist the PHN to develop local strategies to improve the operation of the health care system for patients.

Membership of the Council includes participants from a cross-section of the health sector and represents a variety of practice settings, experience/s, expertise and disciplines.

There are three Clinical Councils across the Primary Health Network region, in line with recognised referral pathways and relationships:

• Hunter New England Rural
• Hunter Metro
• Central Coast

A HNECC PHN Board member has been allocated to each group as a representative for each Council and is tasked with reporting back recommendations and issues to the Board for consideration.
