$1.45 billion to strengthen mental health services and support job security

PHNs will receive additional funding for community mental health services from July 2019.  A changed funding model will mean that support for mental health services will be extended for three years. This will allow longer term planning, and greater certainty for vital services that have often experienced staff shortages due to the uncertainty of short term contracts.  It is expected that this initiative will improve access to services, particularly benefiting those living in rural and remote areas.
